WASHINGTON 鈥� The Nationals鈥� Bryce Harper is among three finalists for the National League Most Valuable Player award.
that Harper joins the Arizona Diamondbacks鈥� Paul Goldschmidt and the Cincinnati Reds鈥� Joey Votto as the finalists for the award, determined by the votes of the members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
MLB.com鈥檚 John Schlegel calls Harper鈥檚 2015 season 鈥渟tupendous,鈥� citing his 1.109 OPS, his major league-leading on-base and slugging percentages and his second-best totals in runs and walks. He adds that Harper 鈥渇igures as the favorite.鈥� Harper also hit 42 home runs, good for a tie for the National League lead and third in the majors.
Schlegel points out, however, that for the first time since 1959, none of the three finalists鈥� teams made the postseason.
The winner will be named Nov. 19.
