WASHINGTON 鈥 The Nationals鈥 Bryce Harper is among three finalists for the National League Most Valuable Player award.

that Harper joins the Arizona Diamondbacks鈥 Paul Goldschmidt and the Cincinnati Reds鈥 Joey Votto as the finalists for the award, determined by the votes of the members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

MLB.com鈥檚 John Schlegel calls Harper鈥檚 2015 season 鈥渟tupendous,鈥 citing his 1.109 OPS, his major league-leading on-base and slugging percentages and his second-best totals in runs and walks. He adds that Harper 鈥渇igures as the favorite.鈥 Harper also hit 42 home runs, good for a tie for the National League lead and third in the majors.

Schlegel points out, however, that for the first time since 1959, none of the three finalists鈥 teams made the postseason.

The winner will be named Nov. 19.
