WASHINGTON — Former Redskins player Fred Smoot was scheduled to go on trial Monday in Loudoun County, Virginia, on a domestic violence charge.
The defensive back was arrested at his home in Ashburn聽in November.
Smoot’s girlfriend聽told officers that Smoot grabbed her聽during an argument.
Smoot聽was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault.
His attorney has said the case stems from what he’s called the “vindictive actions of a disgruntled ex-girlfriend.”
This isn鈥檛 Smoot鈥檚 first run in with the law. He was charged with driving while intoxicated in D.C. in December 2012.
