Don’t need security on a Mac? Think twice

WASHINGTON — Mac users, your time has come.

“We’re seeing a huge uptick of people with Macs that are infected,” says Ken Colburn of Data Doctors. “There still are a lot of people out there that 鈥榠f I use a Mac, I don’t have to worry about viruses and pop ups and security鈥, when in fact, nothing could be further from the truth.鈥

Colburn says both Mac and windows users now are being scammed with pop ups that look like security notifications that your information has been compromised.

“Whenever you see a pop up that says call this 800 number or 888 or any of those [things], that should immediately tell you, 鈥極K, I need to be suspicious,” Colburn warns.

Most security software companies can’t handle the call volume required for that kind of service. Instead, they offer tools and advice online.

“If you thought you could live without security software on your Mac, it’s probably not a good idea anymore,” Colburn tells 海角精品黑料.
