WASHINGTON 鈥 Prince George鈥檚 County police said there were plans to deploy additional officers at county schools on Monday in response to a threat.
Police said officers would be sent to Bladensburg High School, Charles H. Flowers High School, William Wirt Middle School and Kenmoore Middle School out of an 鈥渁bundance of caution鈥 in response to a threat naming those schools.
Police did not provide details about the nature of the threat or whether or not the threat was credible, but said that police 鈥渢ake these threats seriously.鈥
In a series of tweets Sunday afternoon, Prince Georges County Public Schools said officials were 鈥渁ware of the threat circulating on social media鈥 and that 鈥渙ut of an abundance of caution, resources would be deployed Monday to address any situation that arises.鈥
A spokeswoman for the school system declined to provide further details when reached by phone Sunday.
Police said other officers would periodically visit county schools not named in the threat.
Elizabeth Seton High School, a private school near Bladensburg High School,聽will聽be closed Monday due to the threat, the school’s president聽Sister Ellen Marie Hagar told 海角精品黑料 on聽Sunday.
Out of an abundance of caution, resources will be deployed Monday to address any situation that arises.
