On a per-share basis, the San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 38 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.75 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.31 per share.
The company posted revenue of $1.79 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.69 billion.
