Pupatella, the Ballston pizza joint that regularly tops 鈥渂est of鈥 lists around Greater Washington, will begin its quest for world pizza domination in Richmond.
The purveyor of authentic Neapolitan pies has signed its first franchise development deal with Zeeshan Kaba, a Richmond entrepreneur who will develop up to four locations in the Richmond area. The first to open this summer in the Virginia capital鈥檚 Fan District near Virginia Commonwealth University.
Pupatella owners Enzo Algarme and Anastasiya Laufenberg announced last summer that they had partnered with Elevation Burger veteran Michael Berger to launch a franchise program.
Kaba became a Pupatella devotee while living in Arlington a few years ago. Though he grew up working in his father鈥檚 Golden Skillet franchise, Kaba has flourished as an entrepreneur in other industries. He co-founded I-Agent.com, a real estate website, and AllergEase, a company that sells an allergy relief lozenge now carried at Walgreens and CVS stores鈥
