With the 鈥淒ay Without Immigrants鈥 campaign underway, a number of the region鈥檚 restaurants, bars and other businesses are feeling the absence of Latino employees participating in the protest.
The demonstration aims to highlight the importance of immigrant employees in the workforce and represents their opposition to President Donald Trump鈥檚 immigration policies.
Urban Adventures Cos. Inc. 鈥 which operates Capitol City Brewing Co., Vida Fitness, Bang Salon and Aura Spa 鈥 has employees across the company who are partaking, said its president and founder, David von Storch. Capitol City Brewing locations in Shirlington and downtown D.C. are both closed for the day, while Vida sites throughout the District are open and operating with limited staff.
