WASHINGTON 鈥 Funeral services will be held Tuesday for the听Prince William County police officer who died in the line of duty during her first day on the job, and a huge turnout is expected.

On Saturday, Officer Ashley Guindon responded to a domestic disturbance call inside the northern Virginia home of a Pentagon worker. According to police, Army Staff Sgt. Ronald Hamilton opened fire as Guindon arrived at his door, killing her and wounding two other officers.

Hamilton and his wife Crystal had been arguing all day, but it escalated once she called 911. Hamilton fatally shot his wife and then fired at the arriving officers, police say. He eventually surrendered.

According to an听affidavit filed Monday in General District Court in Prince William County,听鈥淭he accused made statements to law enforcement officers stating that he shot his wife and the police officers.鈥

The viewing and funeral are both open to the public. But it should be noted that because of听space limitations, priority will be given to fellow law enforcement and government officials.

With Prince William County police attending the funeral,听Manassas City police and the Prince William Sheriff’s Office will听 respond to calls in western Prince William County until 5 p.m. Residents are advised to call 911 for emergencies and 703-792-6500 for nonemergencies.

In eastern Prince William,听Virginia State Police troopers will听 respond to calls until 5 p.m. For nonemergency calls, phone 703-792-6500.

A procession was organized听Monday night to take Guindon from Mountcastle Funeral Home to Hylton Memorial Chapel.

Police invited community members to 鈥渓ine the route鈥 as they carried her. Officers passed in front of the Garfield Police Station.

The Prince William County Police Association has created an account for anyone that wishes to donate money to the family in Guindon鈥檚 memory. The association will receive all funds and send them directly to Ashley鈥檚 mother.
