Final 4 candidates revealed in quest to have women on $20 bill

WASHINGTON 鈥 Four candidates have been named in the push to put a woman鈥檚 face on the $20 bill.

After more than 256,000 votes were cast, the final four candidates are Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Wilma Mankiller.

, the group behind the movement, says the finalists came from an initial list of 100 candidates. According to the organization, Roosevelt, Tubman and Parks were named by as many as half of the voters as one of the top three in the first round.

鈥淏ecause of strong public sentiment that people should have the choice of a Native American to replace Andrew Jackson, Cherokee Nation Chief聽Wilma Mankiller, was added to the final ballot,鈥 Women on 20s states on its .

Earlier this spring, the movement gained national attention as with the $20 bill to support the effort.

The group says it hopes to get one of the聽candidates printed on the $20 bill by 2020, marking the centennial of the women鈥檚 suffrage movement.

People can now聽vote for one of the final candidates to replace Andrew Jackson on the bill, but聽a date has not yet been named for when voting closes.
