Potomac Nationals announce partnership ahead of stadium move

WASHINGTON — It’s far from baseball weather, but the Potomac Nationals are thinking ahead to the new stadium in Woodbridge and announcing a big move helping to聽get there.

The club announced it has signed a founding partnership with F.H. Furr, a plumbing, heating and electrical services company based in Manassas.

鈥淭his is going to kind of give it a jolt forward. We鈥檙e talking to a lot of different businesses [so] we鈥檙e hoping this is going to be somewhat of a domino effect,鈥 says P-Nats General Manager Josh Olerud.

The club, which set a goal of privately funding the new stadium鈥檚 construction, plans to move into an existing footprint at the Potomac Towne Center at Stonebridge in Woodbridge.

Instead of hoping the neighborhood grows around the park, Olerud says the new location is near an already growing residential and commercial area off I-95.

鈥淲e鈥檙e pretty optimistic this spring, we’ll have it lined up an tell our fans this is the construction process and this is where we鈥檙e at,鈥 he says.

The team is shooting to move in ahead of the 2016 season.
