WASHINGTON — Fans of “Downton Abbey” may wonder what it would be like to live in the scenic castle where the popular British drama plays out.
If they have a stout bank account with plenty of quid, they can do just that.
Thursday is the last day for fans to win a trip to the famous home and get a taste of that lush world in person instead of just watching the show on the .
Since Aug. 4, Christie’s has been accepting bids for an overnight stay at , where many scenes from the TV drama are filmed. The bidding started at nearly $17,000, and Christie’s estimates the bidding could go up to $25,000.
The winning bidder will be able to use three of the castle’s first-floor rooms for a night, including the one used for Lady Cora’s quarters on the show.
Bidding is also being accepted for , including cocktails and dinner for eight at the castle.
Money raised will go to various armed-forces charities. The castle, as loyal viewers of “Downton Abbey” know, was a military hospital during World War I.
