Police: Md. man ordered pit bull to attack dog, head-butted its owner

WASHINGTON – A 36-year-old Baltimore man is facing assault and other charges after allegedly having his dog attack another man’s dog and then head-butting the other man.

Anne Arundel County police say Jason Charles Parrotte reportedly was walking a pit bull without a leash when he told it to attack a Labrador retriever being walked by a 52-year-old man near Cluster Court and Riverwood Way in Baltimore Tuesday night.

Once the dog began the attack, the other man separated the animals and Parrotte then allegedly head-butted him in the face. Parrotte reportedly indicated he had wanted to videotape a dogfight.

The other man was injured but refused medical treatment, police say. His dog required veterinary treatment.

A warrant was issued for Parrotte on charges of second-degree assault, animal cruelty, training a dog for a dogfight and failing to restrain a dangerous dog. He turned himself in Wednesday and was committed to a detention center on $75,000 bail.

As of Thursday morning, Parrotte’s dog was not in the possession of animal control authorities.
