Adrian Johnson was convicted in October of charges including motor vehicle manslaughter and homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated. He faced up to 13 years in prison at his sentencing Friday.
Authorities say Johnson was intoxicated and speeding when he crashed his car into another vehicle in Brandywine on Feb. 7, 2011. The crash killed the driver of the other car, Lawrence Garner Jr., and seriously injured Garner’s friend, Robert Mitchell II.
Johnson’s lawyer argued in court that the crash was unavoidable and not his client’s fault.
