WASHINGTON – The Cannon Building was invaded by all shapes, sizes and ages of canines and cats Tuesday afternoon. Several shelters and animal rescue groups across the region showcased their dogs and cats up for adoption on the Hill.
The “Paws for Celebration” event was used to promote the adoption of shelter animals.
Congressman Jim Moran, D-Va., who sponsored the event says as many as 60 percent of shelter dogs and 80 percent of shelter cats are euthenized.
He urged people to think about saving a life from a shelter.
