WASHINGTON – One of the world’s most famous collections of short stories has gone digital.
The Library of Congress has published 140 of “Aesop’s Fables” in an free interactive online collection. It is illustrated by artist Milo Winter.
The stories have been around since 620 B.C., and the library is using the 1919 version.
Some of the well known fables include “The Hare and the Tortoise” and “The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf”, perhaps better known as “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”
The stories range in length from a few sentences to several paragraphs, and typically end with a short sentence summarizing the lesson the fables teaches.
