WASHINGTON – Handing the car keys to a teenage driver can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially if your teen doesn’t fully grasp the responsibility involved with getting behind the wheel.

But now there’s a new tool to help drive the point home.

is a virtual program that not only highlights the dangers of distracted and drunken driving, but it also paints a vivid picture of what happens after a crash.

The program gives young drivers a first hand account of dealing with emergency personnel, police — even judges, after a crash or drunken driving stop.

One 19-year-old tells the program “puts everything in perspective and makes it really realistic.”

Safety advocates are increasingly utilizing One Simple Decision at events such as football games and county fairs.
