WASHINGTON – Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles tendon and is likely to miss the 2012 NFL season, reports.
One source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Suggs — the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year — hurt himself playing basketball. Another source reportedly wasn’t sure if that’s how Suggs suffered the injury.
The Ravens have not confirmed the details or extent of Suggs’ injury, but released a statement saying the team is in contact with Suggs.
“He will see a specialist next week and we’ll know more at that time,” the team said.
