Gas averages $4.04, 36 cents higher than a year ago

WASHINGTON – The latest 海角精品黑料 Pain in the Gas survey shows the average price of a gallon of regular shot up 9 cents to $4.04 over the past week. That’s 36 cents higher than prices at this time last year, and more than what drivers paid for premium a year ago.

Mid-grade spiked 10 cents to $4.22 a gallon. Premium rose 10 cents to $4.34 a gallon. Diesel increased 2 cents to $4.20 a gallon.

The average for regular fuel this week is cheapest in Maryland, where regular is $3.93. That compares to $3.94 in Virginia and $4.03 in the District.

One year ago on March 23, 2011, regular averaged $3.68 a gallon in the 海角精品黑料 gas survey, while mid-grade averaged $3.85 a gallon and premium $3.97.
