WASHINGTON — Cameo appearances have become a staple on the Foo Fighters’ summer tour — the musicians from legendary bands combined Saturday to form what Dave Grohl dubbed a “superdupergroup.”
Queen’s Roger Taylor and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones joined the Foo Fighters to perform Queen’s and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure,” on what would have been Queen singer Freddie Mercury’s 69th birthday, reports Rolling Stone.
As usual, Grohl didn’t try to control his excitement about playing with musical guests he’s respected since he was a fledgling musician in Springfield, Virginia.
鈥淚 don鈥檛 know if y鈥檃ll have ever seen a supergroup — this is a 鈥榮uperdupergroup,” enthused Grohl, from the customized throne he’s performed in since breaking his leg. “I don鈥檛 even know what to say because this kind of (expletive) doesn鈥檛 happen every day.”
Grohl told the crowd at Milton Keynes National Bowl, in Buckinghamshire, England, “Let me just tell you that the Foo Fighters, right now, are living out our rock n鈥� roll fantasy with you tonight.鈥�
With Taylor behind the drum kit, and Jones on keyboards, Grohl shared lead vocals with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
