Terminally ill fan who saw ‘Star Wars’ film early dies

WASHINGTON 鈥 Daniel Fleetwood, the terminally ill cancer patient whose last wish to see 鈥淪tar Wars: The Force Awakens鈥 was granted last week, has died. He was 32.

鈥淒aniel聽put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace.鈥 She also posted their last picture together,” his wife, Tuesday morning.

鈥淪tar Wars: The Force Awakens鈥 comes out Dec. 18, but Daniel Fleetwood didn鈥檛 expect to live that long. The campaign to allow him to see the film early was supported by, among others, actor Mark Hamill, the original Luke Skywalker, 听谤别辫辞谤迟蝉.

Director J.J. Abrams furnished an unedited version of the film for Fleetwood. Ashley Fleetwood said that Abrams called the couple personally to tell them that he was granting Daniel鈥檚 wish.

Abrams granted a similar with for a dying fan before the release of 鈥淪tar Trek Into Darkness鈥 in 2013, Entertainment Weekly reports.
