WASHINGTON 鈥 A proposed bill would require Montgomery County single-family house聽sellers to test their houses聽for radon and disclose the results to potential buyers.
The bill, proposed by council members Craig Rice and Sidney Katz, would make sellers test for the presence of radon gas. Under current Maryland regulations, homeowners must disclose any known problems or 鈥渓atent defects鈥 to buyers. Testing for radon is not required as part of the process for selling a house.
is 鈥渁 naturally-occurring radioactive gas without color, odor or taste鈥 that is聽known to increase聽the risk of lung cancer, the 听蝉补测蝉.
