PDK names ex-Montgomery County Public Schools super as CEO

WASHINGTON — The former superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools will become the next CEO of , the organization announced Tuesday.

Joshua Starr will replace William J. Bushaw at the research, leadership and education focused nonprofit in Arlington.

Joshua Starr and the MCPS Board of Education agreed to part ways in February, several months before his four-year contract was due to expire. 聽

At the time, reports surfaced that several members of the school board wouldn’t support a bid by Starr to renew his contract.

鈥淒on鈥檛 get into a fight that you know you鈥檙e not going to win,鈥 Starr said at a news conference at the time.

PDK International has recently changed directions, according the the company’s news release, which will include the launch of in August.

As PDK International is reimagining its role, I鈥檓 excited to leverage its resources, expertise, and energy to ensure that policy conversations are focused on teaching and learning and on advocating for what we know works in public education. PDK is uniquely positioned to lead that conversation in this country,鈥 Starr said in the release.

Starr will officially take over the regins at PDK International on June 8.
