WSSC water wins blind taste test

WASHINGTON 鈥 In a purely subjective blind taste test, water from Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission has been tapped as the best tasting in the region.

The judges for the competition were people attending a joint meeting of the Chesapeake Water Environment Association and Chesapeake American Water Works Association.

Water from seven water filtration plants was evaluated on water appearance, odor, flavor, mouth feel and aftertaste.聽The participating water filtration plants included Baltimore, Rockville, Carroll County, Artesian Water Company and WSSC.

The water from WSSC’s聽Patuxent Water Filtration Plant in Laurel, Maryland took the top spot.

鈥淲e realize that taste is a subjective thing,鈥 said Jerry N. Johnson, WSSC general manager and CEO, in a news release.

鈥淏ut it鈥檚 an important quality in the tap water that we deliver every day. And it鈥檚 important to realize that along with quality and taste, tap water is still among the best values out there.鈥
