WASHINGTON 鈥 I scream, you scream, we all scream for 鈥 cookie dough?
That鈥檚 the idea behind D.C.鈥檚 newest sweet shop, or rather, 鈥渟coop shop,鈥 which will sell edible (aka: eggless) cookie dough in presentations generally reserved for ice cream 鈥 on cones, in cups and under sprinkles 鈥 when it opens in Georgetown on Aug. 4.
Lindsay Goldin has been feeding Washingtonians鈥 comfort-food cravings since 2016, when she launched . In the last two years, the D.C.-based company has grown from sampling its products in apartment building lobbies to packing around 2,000 jars of edible cookie dough each week to sell in more than 30 retail locations throughout the region.
Goldin, 31, said opening her own store is just the cherry on top of her company鈥檚 success.
鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be the hottest thing to hit D.C. We鈥檙e so excited,鈥 she said.
Ice cream is not just the inspiration, it will also be a big part of the shop鈥檚 menu, since Goldin said second to 鈥渏ust a spoon,鈥 the frozen dessert is one of the more popular pairings for her cookie dough. (There will also be coffee. You know, to even out the sugar high.)
At The Dough Jar鈥檚 new Wisconsin Avenue location, customers will be able to order confections such as cookie dough ice cream sundaes, cookie dough ice cream sandwiches, cookie dough milkshakes and 鈥渂rownie a la dough鈥 (a brownie served with ice cream and cookie dough).
Goldin advises customers to bring their appetites and their Instagram game; The Dough Jar promises to be just as appealing to the eyes. Goldin hired a local artist to paint the walls and tables, to make the space 鈥渏ust really fun.鈥
She added, 鈥淲e want you to feel like you鈥檙e just at home with your mom or your kids making cookie dough.鈥
The Dough Jar opens at 1332 Wisconsin Ave. NW on Aug. 4, 2018.
