DC’s Bad Saint named No. 2 best new restaurant in the US

WASHINGTON 鈥 D.C. just can鈥檛 stop winning when it comes to Bon App茅tit鈥檚 鈥榖est of鈥 list.

Earlier this month, three D.C. restaurants made the national food magazine鈥檚 list of top 50 finalists for America鈥檚 best new restaurants.

Then, on Aug. 10, Bon App茅tit awarded its 鈥溾 title to the District.

The top 50 list has been , and D.C.-based is the No. 2 best new restaurant in the country.

The 24-seat, walk-in-only Filipino restaurant opened last September in Columbia Heights.

, Bon App茅tit鈥檚 Andrew Knowlton raved about dishes such as the freshwater shrimp fritter with sweet potato and cilantro, and the adobong dilaw 鈥 a chicken, turmeric and burnt coconut stew.

鈥淭heir food is personal, but it鈥檚 so much more than just dishes they ate as kids. Bad Saint is the kind of place I spend all year searching for,鈥 Knowlton said about the restaurant in the magazine鈥檚 Hot 10.

Atlanta鈥檚 Staplehouse restaurant landed No. 1, and Pittsburgh鈥檚 Morcilla came in third.

In 2014, D.C.’s Rose’s Luxury won the magazine’s coveted .
