WASHINGTON 鈥� Police are investigating whether a motorcyclist’s speed led to his death in a Falls Church, Virginia, crash Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday, Fairfax County police said 20-year-old Mark Green-Smith died when the motorcycle he was on collided with a Nissan Versa at Arlington Boulevard and South Street around 4 p.m. Monday. Police said the driver of the Versa was making a left turn from westbound Arlington Boulevard onto South Street when the motorcycle traveling eastbound hit the front of the car.
Green-Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the Versa was injured, according to police.
While detectives say alcohol does not appear to be a factor for either motorist in the crash, they are looking into the possibility that the motorcycle’s speed may have been a factor.
Officials have not released any additional details about the crash at this time, including how fast Green-Smith was traveling at the time of the crash.
