Investigation of in-custody death of woman in Fairfax Co. continues

WASHINGTON 鈥 The Fairfax County police say that their investigation into the death of a woman in custody is moving into a new phase.

Natasha McKenna was hit with a Taser while in custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff鈥檚 Office at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center Feb. 3. She died Feb. 8. Police say McKenna resisted deputies who were trying to move her.

The county police say that they鈥檝e finished their interviews and are awaiting forensic evidence, such as an examination of the Taser and the equipment that was used to monitor McKenna鈥檚 condition before a rescue was called for her. Only then, they say, can the medical examiner determine the medical cause of McKenna鈥檚 death.
