WASHINGTON — A fire at the Wal-Mart at the Chantilly Shopping Center in Fairfax County was intentionally set, fire investigators say.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue received the call about the small fire around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The store had to be evacuated, but an employee put out the fire using a fire extinguisher before the firefighters arrived.聽Store workers were allowed back in to clean up around 8:45 p.m., reports.
Police on Wednesday initially said the fire appeared suspicious. Damage is estimated at $1,000.
Fairfax Fire and Rescue Capt. Randy Bittinger said there was no bomb.聽Fairfax County Police’s Ordnance Disposal Team was investigating to find a device that supposedly started the fire.
