WASHINGTON – Leonardo DiCaprio is reuniting with Martin Scorsese for a sixth time to tell the tale of聽an infamous U.S. serial killer.
Variety DiCaprio will play H.H. Holmes,聽who murdered between 27 and 200 people around the time of聽the 1893 Chicago World鈥檚 Fair.
The聽film聽will be called “The Devil in the White City,”聽based on聽Erik Larson’s 2003 book “The聽Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America.”
The Paramount project聽has reportedly been in the works for the past decade.
Screenwriter聽Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips,” “The Hunger Games”) will pen the script, while DiCaprio will co-produce.
The lead role was originally intended for Tom Cruise before DiCaprio took over.
This will be DiCaprio’s sixth collaboration with the legendary Scorsese.
While Robert DeNiro was聽Scorsese’s favorite collaborator of the 20th century, the 21st century has been all about DiCaprio with “Gangs of New York” (2002), “The Aviator” (2004), “The Departed” (2006), “Shutter Island” (2010) and “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013).
