In the D.C. region, conversations often start with, 鈥淲hat do you do?鈥 海角精品黑料鈥檚 鈥Working Capital鈥 series profiles the people whose jobs make the D.C. region run.
If you’re wanted and a “Be On the Lookout” alert goes out for you, you better hope Officer Kache Fields isn鈥檛 the one who sees it.
Fields, a standout member of Metro Transit Police, has earned the nickname 鈥淏OLO Hunter鈥 for her uncanny ability to recognize faces from wanted fliers.
With a photographic memory and a drive to serve, she鈥檚 helped crack over 1,000 cases across D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
鈥淚 just put the BOLO photographs inside my brain. I have my own BOLO folder in there,鈥 Fields said.
Her talent doesn鈥檛 just help Metro. It鈥檚 solving crimes for other agencies in the region too.
Assistant Chief Stephen Boehm said Fields鈥 talent is extraordinary.
鈥淲e’re not only able to solve our crimes, we’re solving a lot of crimes for other agencies in this region,鈥 Boehm said.
Fields says she鈥檚 had this gift since childhood. She still remembers who took her favorite toy on the playground.
鈥淚 still do. I sure do,鈥 she joked.
But she didn鈥檛 realize the full value of her memory until she joined Metro in 2018. Now, once she sees a wanted flier, the face is locked in.
鈥淲hen I鈥檓 out on patrol, it鈥檚 like I have a 鈥楾hat鈥檚 So Raven鈥 moment. The image just flashes in my mind, and I know that鈥檚 the person from the BOLO,鈥 said Fields.
Even if suspects try to change their appearance, Fields isn鈥檛 fooled.
鈥淚f they change clothes, their face doesn鈥檛 change,鈥 she said.
Before law enforcement, basketball was her passion for 17 years. Now, she says, it鈥檚 BOLOs.
鈥淏asketball was my niche. Now, it鈥檚 BOLOs. I just want to make my mark,鈥 Fields said.
What drives her every day is the impact she has on victims.
鈥淭he gratitude of seeing so many victims smile when you give them the satisfaction of, 鈥楬ey, your case has been solved,鈥 means more than anything else in this world,鈥 said Fields.
She also hopes her story inspires others.
鈥淚鈥檓 a Black woman doing this in a male-dominated field, and I couldn鈥檛 be more thankful and blessed,鈥 said Fields.
And to those who end up on a BOLO?
鈥淣o matter where you are, I鈥檓 going to find you, but I鈥檒l treat you with respect,鈥 said Fields.
