Washington Post executive editor steps down, ‘new newsroom structure’ announced

Washington Post Executive Editor Sally Buzbee is stepping down after a little over three years on the masthead of the District’s paper of record.

Publisher and CEO William Lewis made the announcement Sunday evening .

“Sally is an incredible leader and a supremely talented media executive who will be sorely missed. I wish her all the best going forward,” Lewis said.

Former Wall Street Journal editor-in-chief Matt Murray will succeed Buzbee as executive editor through the 2024 presidential election. Afterward, current Deputy Editor of The Telegraph Media Group Robert Winnett, will transition into the editor role.
