1 dead in crash in Northeast

A man is dead after being found in an overturned car in Northeast early Friday, and D.C.’s chief medical examiner will determine how he died, D.C. police said.

The single-car crash happened just after midnight in the southbound lane of D.C. 295 near Burroughs Avenue.



The crash investigation closed a portion of D.C. 295 for six hours.

The police said the man was in the car alone and died at the scene.

The police also said there were bullet holes in the side of the car, but a spokesman said the man had no obvious gunshot wounds.

The man’s identity has not been released.

The investigation is continuing.
