WASHINGTON 鈥 A lockdown has been lifted at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum where an assault investigation is underway.

U.S. Park Police Sgt. Anna Rose told 海角精品黑料 that investigators responded just after 3 p.m. Sunday for a report of a female who was sexually assaulted inside a museum bathroom.

For a time, the museum was put on lockdown to prevent the perpetrator from exiting the museum.

Visitors took to social media, confused about why they could not leave, and said women and children were let out of the museum first.

Others on social media said male visitors remain unable to leave.

It is unknown at this time if the suspect is in custody.
