WASHINGTON 鈥斅燗 former athletic trainer at an area Catholic high school has been charged with sexually abusing a female student.
On Thursday, D.C. police arrested Jimmy Augustin, 33, of Fort Washington, Maryland, after investigators believe he had sexual contact with a student between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31.
The alleged inappropriate encounters, according to police, occurred at Archbishop Carroll High School in Northeast D.C.
The Archdiocese of Washington, which operates the school, said in a statement that it鈥檚 aware of Augustin鈥檚 arrest and has been cooperating with police in their investigation.
鈥淢r. Augustin was removed from work immediately following a credible allegation,鈥� the Archdiocese said in a statement. 鈥淭he school also immediately contacted the Child Protection Office of the Archdiocese of Washington and involved the police.鈥�
The archdiocese said Augustin has since been fired from his position at the school.
Augustin is charged with misdemeanor sexual abuse of a minor.
