WASHINGTON 鈥 A grand jury had indicted a聽U.S. Secret Service officer with . This come after聽prosecutors say the officer texted an undercover detective who he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
But聽Lee Robert Moore, a聽37-year-old聽Maryland resident, did not attend his detention hearing at US federal court in Delaware Wednesday morning because of a chickenpox outbreak in the detention center where he’s being held.
The Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia confirms no one is going in or out to prevent further exposure.聽It’s unclear if Moore has the viral infection.
A recorded phone greeting from the detention center says several cases of chickenpox have been identified and it’s suspending inmate visitation.
Delaware investigators say Moore聽texted sexually explicit messages on the job 鈥 once from a guard booth while he checked visitors in to the White House. He turned himself in to Maryland State Police.
His hearing has been postponed indefinitely, according to spokeswoman Kimberlynn Reeves with the Delaware State’s Attorney’s Office.
