WASHINGTON —聽A pedestrian is in critical condition after police say a Greyhound bus hit him, pinning him under the wheels in Northwest D.C. Wednesday afternoon.
All lanes blocked by the crash investigation near Mount Vernon Square in Northwest D.C.聽reopened at about 7:50 p.m. after closures lasted more than five hours.
A Greyhound bus hit a man around 1:10 p.m.聽near 7th Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest and the man was pinned beneath the rear wheels of the bus, D.C. Fire & EMS spokesman Tim Wilson says.
At the time of the crash, the bus was making a left turn onto 7th street from Massachusetts Avenue, Wilson says.
It took fire & EMS personnel about 20 minutes to get the man out from underneath the bus.
Emergency crews rushed the man to a nearby hospital. He is in critical condition, says Wilson.
Officials have not released information about the bus driver.
