WASHINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board focused on the near the L鈥橢nfant Plaza Metro Station.
One person died and more than 80 were taken to hospitals in January when an electrical malfunction led to a Yellow Line train filling with smoke.聽
During the hearings, the NTSB is expected to release records, evidence and other detailed findings of its ongoing investigation.
The agency will also hear testimony from a number of witnesses, including track and engineering experts from Metro and D.C. emergency response leaders.
The hearings run Tuesday and Wednesday at the NTSB headquarters in Southwest Washington.
They will focus on the state of Metro’s infrastructure, what led to the deadly smoke incident, the emergency response and Metro’s efforts to improve safety.
