WASHINGTON — On Saturday, a funeral was held for a local community reporter who was gunned down in Southeast Washington.
was being used as a human shield when she was shot and killed May 27 while returning home from covering a story. She worked for Capital Community News, a local news outlet. Milton聽was apparently caught in the crossfire of a gang shootout.
Her funeral was held at the Living Word Church in Southwest Washington. The church聽was packed and聽her parents were in the聽front, near her casket,聽being consoled by others.
Although this was a celebration of Milton’s life, there was heaviness in the air.
Some who attended the church service complained about聽roving gangs on dirt bikes not being stopped by the police. They fear things could get worse as the summer progresses.
