WASHINGTON — Both dogs, Ken and Barbie, are now up for adoption at the Washington Humane Society’s New York Avenue facility.

WASHINGTON — While dogs are known to be man’s best friend, sometimes they’re a dog’s best friend too.
That’s especially the case for two dogs聽found in Southeast D.C. Wednesday morning on Firth Sterling Avenue.聽One dog was injured and lying partially in the roadway. The other聽dog, uninjured, refused to leave its friend’s side.
The聽pair was discovered when a聽driver called the 海角精品黑料 Traffic Center to report the unusual road block.
Traffic reporter Reada Kessler then put in a call to聽Tyrone with聽DDOT’s Road Operation Patrol. He found the dogs and used his work truck to block traffic until the Washington Humane Society could respond.
Scott Giacoppo, vice president of external affairs at the Washington Humane Society, says the injured dog appears to have been hit by a car. While it has an injured back leg, it’s not life-threatening.
Both dogs were friendly and wore collars, but had no tags or microchips.
The dogs believed to be Perro de Presa Canario mixes, which look similar to mastiffs, are being treated by a veterinarian. Both dogs are up for adoption.
