WASHINGTON 鈥 The District and D.C. United have finalized a deal to bring a soccer stadium to the city.
The final details will be announced Tuesday.
On Monday, Mayor Muriel Bowser said the agreement聽clarifies the size and timeline of the stadium.聽The Bowser Administration will submit legislation to D.C. Council for final review.
The agreement ends speculation the team , instead of聽the site at Buzzard Point.
鈥淭hanks to the hard work of the District government and D.C. United staff, a world-class soccer stadium will call Buzzard Point home 鈥 for good,鈥 Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a news release.
鈥淭his agreement will add vibrancy to a neighborhood on the banks of the Anacostia River and generate jobs for District residents as my Administration creates pathways to the middle class. With this agreement, Washington, D.C. remains the #SportsCapital, and Washingtonians stand together to declare: Vamos United!鈥
