WASHINGTON 鈥 The chief of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police is leaving next month for a federal post.

MWAA announced on Thursday that Scott Booth has resigned, effective mid-July, to take a position with the Transportation Security Administration. He鈥檒l be deputy federal security director at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, in North Carolina.
Bryan Norwood, the vice president for public safety, will be acting chief of police until a new chief is found, MWAA said; they鈥檒l conduct a nationwide search.
Booth joined the MWAA police in August 2015 and was promoted to chief in January 2016, MWAA said in the statement.
Norwood praised Booth for his 鈥渄edication to customer service, professionalism and teamwork in serving the traveling public at Reagan National Airport, Dulles International Airport and the Dulles Toll Road. We congratulate him on this new phase of his career with the TSA.鈥
