WASHINGTON 鈥� The most expensive residential sale in Washington last month closed for 4.5 percent more than its most recent list price, and its buyers got a seven-bedroom compound on a half-acre lot near Northwest D.C.’s Palisades neighborhood.

The home, at 3035 Chain Bridge Road, was built in 1940 and includes nine bathrooms, 7,250-square-feet of interior space, a pool, steam room and sauna, and private gardens.
