Baltimore lawmaker announces bid for Maryland comptroller

BALTIMORE (AP) — A Baltimore lawmaker said she’s running for comptroller. Del. Brooke Lierman made the announcement Thursday.

The Democrat said she’s running to move all residents forward with ideas that help families recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

She has been a delegate representing Baltimore since 2015.

The comptroller is the state’s tax collector and serves as one of three members of Maryland’s powerful Board of Public Works, along with the governor and treasurer.

Comptroller Peter Franchot has announced that he is running for governor. The offices of governor and comptroller will both be open in 2022. Gov. Larry Hogan is term limited.
